It is better to expand/modify Root Name Server Confederations based on where servers are located and which ISPs use them. It would be good if the various continents had their own Root Name Server Confederations. If that were the case, traffic would not be shuttled across the various oceans just to give the illusion that there is operational redundancy. To add European root name servers to the list that North American operators use does not do them a service. there is no such thing as a root name server confederation, that is a fiction of jim fleming's intersteller imagination.

Because you do not belong to one does not mean they do not exist. Market share, or the lack thereof, does not dictate as to whether or not they actually exist. On Tue, 20 May 1997, Paul A Vixie wrote:

The fact that you have never been on a flying saucer does not mean that they do not exist. Common sense, or lack thereof, is irrelevant in making such judgements.

Please name any software that supports that concept, and any ISPs or end user organizations that are using the concept. It has to exist to exist, and as far as I can tell it is only a theory with no working code. -george william herbert gherbert@crl.com Disclaimer: I do not speak for crl.com, I don't even work there.
