My partner (Delaware) reported that their Verizon iphone had gone SOS-only, even after a reboot. Shoot, did an autopay fail? Never seen this before. I noticed the same on mine. SOS-only, sometimes with satellite only, sometimes with wifi. Try to log in over home wifi, and of course, Verizon wants to authenticate me by....sending a notification to my phone number. FFS. Really? Passkeys, WebAuthN, TOTP? None of this has meaning to you guys? Are others seeing this? -Dan

Hooboy, yeah, I'm seeing that now. Apparently this is even affecting 911 access for some customers, according to some (layperson) reports. The fallout from this is going to be interesting. -Dan

Fun fact: MVNOs serviced by Verizon (including Visible, which they own) don’t seem to be affected. I’m with Visible and not seeing any issues. A friend on Spectrum isn’t seeing issues either. -jav
NYCEM is aware of a current nationwide Verizon Wireless outage that may be affecting some users trying to call 911. Verizon is working to solve the issue. If you have an emergency and cannot connect using your Verizon Wireless device, please call using a device from another carrier, a landline, or go to a police precinct or fire station to report the emergency. In the meantime, you can check the website or social media account of your cellphone carrier for updates.
