The what-is-my-ip-address gives a 404 https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip is correct, which was a redirect from the /my that you later mentioned. David -- https://dprall.net On 2/15/2026 12:10 PM, Abdullah DevRel of IPinfo via NANOG wrote:
Hi Tony,
Thank you for raising this. You are right that the /lite page (ipinfo.io/lite) is a product page focused on the dataset and API access. It does not have a lookup interface on it, and I can see how that would give the impression we do not offer one.
We do have a free, public web lookup that does not require an account:
- Any IP address can be looked up directly via URL: https://ipinfo.io/8.8.8.8 (replace with any IP) - Our homepage (ipinfo.io) has a search bar in the navigation bar - We have a "What is my IP address" page: https://ipinfo.io/what-is-my-ip-address
All these are already mentioned across all our website pages. No API key, no account, no sign-up required for any of these.
Additionally, our IPinfo Lite data (Country + ASN) is published under CC-BY-SA 4.0, so several open-source projects and platforms already use and redistribute it freely.
That said, your feedback is helpful. If visitors land on the /lite page expecting a lookup tool and do not find one, that is something we should address on our end. When end-users come to us with issues, we ask them to visit ipinfo.io/my page, not a product page.
