Personally, I would recommend the Nokia 7250-ixr range for this transport role. They are "affordable" while having the full carrier grade software stack and there are a wide range of hardware options depending on your port requirements.

Mikrotik was only one of the options, we have looked at Juniper for example and this was more to check if there are other smart solutions out there, other than the traditional vendors :)
